WHAT'S IN A POEM

written first by Pamela Simpson, "Pami" on www.kitakitz.com

A poem doesn't have to mean anything,
Only to the author, you see,
for no one knows what is in the heart
of the one it portrays to be.

To meander and wander
down life's roads and paths,
To be safe at home
and create a story to last,

That the adventure begins,
when the poem is read,
and the mind is locked inside,
like being right there,

At the author's side,
on the gallant steed,
In the pirate's ship,
At the jungle's edge,

We take the plunge,
Inside the book,
And stay safe at home instead!

A ROSE IN OUR HANDS

A rose in our hands,
covered in dew,
we only see the thorns.

What does it take
to see the love,
when we only see life's storms?

To savor the vision
to remember the fragrance
of this momentary gift.

To dance the dance,
to climb the mountain,
to have the faith,

In things unseen,
Hold the rose in your hand,
Smell the wonderful fragrance,

While you dance!
