"Billy" The Raccoon

07/10/07

We were inseparable! He made the funniest little noises when he spoke...sort of like "uhuhuhuhuhuhuhuh!" real fast and his paws were like black velvet and he rinsed his food off in the old single bowl sink that sat by the wall in the kitchen and went drip, drop, drip. His fur was like pure silk to the touch and he had so much fun opening up the cabinets and getting the Sugar Pop cereal which was also becoming famous in those long ago days. He would wet his food and rub his soft paws together as though he were washing the cereal with the water from the sink. One time he ran away, naturally I was hysterical and crying all day and we left the upstairs door open and late in the evening I felt something jump up on the bed with me and it was Billy coming back. They say if you love something to let it go and although we wanted Billy forever, he was, after all, a wild animal and Daddy tried to pen him up but eventually Billy left and never came back. I like to think that most of the raccoons around this area are descendants of our Billy! You can view Billy's photo by clicking on my photo gallery. You can see the old sink that drip, dropped, dripped way back then!

I have an obsession with learning about life and then writing about the smallest of blessings which makes one happy and yet I know these blessings are many times overlooked. P.J.Simpson "Pami"
