MR. TOAD

07/26/07

I saved his life one day at the beginning of summer. There he was sitting in the middle of the warm road....now, he could not stay there could he? He would have been flat as a pancake as I have seen toads before when they got in the way of a vehicle!!So, not really anxious to pick up this horny toad I got my trusty broom and the big dustpan and proceeded to try and get him in the dustpan without mangling him myself! Finally, I did and placed him in the grass in the small yard near our kitchen. He made it to the back yard beside the porch near where Mr. Snake comes out of his den.I became concerned when, for two days, I have not seen Mr. Toad! Today when I took Jezzie outside when I came back in I bent down and was looking at the blooming "Geraniums" and glanced over to the brick wall beside the porch and there he was! This little smarty pants Mr. Toad had found a portion of the brick wall which is minus one brick and was sitting inside as though he had chosen a new house! His eyes are sort of shiny and he was blinking them slowly as though he were winking at me and saying, "See, I am still here, I may only be a toad, but I know a good house when I see one!"___
