SALESMANSHIP

03/14/07
I really hated that class in high school. The way my schedule was with having band and playing my clarinet and needing that extra credit, there was no other choice. To top it off the class had to be taken with "juniors" when I was a "senior" and talk about me being out of my comfort zone. Then, to make all the matters worse we were the last ones out of the school and so I had to ride home on the kindergarten bus! GOSH! Then the teacher tells us we will do a one minute speach demonstrating a product to the rest of the class. Horrors! To get up in front of a class of juniors and remember what I was saying was going to be traumatic. I worked on learning my speach all night the night before and all day until 3:30 the time of my class. My turn came and my mind went BLANK to the laughter of the rest of the class. My worst nightmare had come true. Somehow by the grace of God I made it through that year and graduated. Want to know what I chose for my life's work? SALES! Strange, huh? How something we hate turns to something we love. I realized that everything in the world has to be sold by someone. What is the old saying? "Find a need and fill it!" I have sold clothing, makeup, real estate, insurance, household products, and the list goes on and on. Once we know how to sell something we do not need to sell at all. God gives people a good mind and when we have a product people need we can guide them in to making the choice on their own whether it is a product like insurance which is very difficult at times to sell because it is something people can not see or touch and in which most decisions are based on love or business decisions. Selling is simply knowing your product, getting it to the people who need it or don't even know they need it until they see you. Once learned....Selling is a joy!
